As we observed in other legal cases, the Supreme Court ruled on June 29, 2026, in Trump v. Slaughter, that the President can fire the heads of most federal agencies without any cause, despite statutes that contain strong language requiring good cause and procedural protections. In a win for immigrant workers, the Supreme Court in Trump v. Barbara, et al. found that the Presidential Order attempting to change birthright citizenship was unconstitutional. The Court found that the Fourteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution clearly provides that children born in the United States, regardless of the immigration or citizenship status of their parents, are U.S. citizens. While we continue to see attacks on immigrants, those born in the United States remain citizens with the rights provided by the Constitution.
