Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at noon (CT) Join us for the next Labor Forward Forum featuring Christine Neumann-Ortiz founding Executive Director of Voces de la Frontera and Voces de la Frontera Action. Professor Armando Ibarra and Christine will be discussing May Day and the current state of immigrant worker rights. Christine is recognized as a national leader in the immigrant rights movement. She was named by The Huffington Post in its list of “50 Young Progressive Activists Who Are Changing America”, and has received numerous awards including the Community Change Champion Award for Community Organizing and Leadership from The Center for Community Change and the Equal Justice Medal by Legal Aid Society of Milwaukee. In August 2020, she was recognized by USA Today as one of the ten “Women of the Century” in Wisconsin and she was also awarded the 2020 NEA César Chávez Acción y Compromiso Human and Civil Rights Award.
The forum is a free, online series held on the third Wednesday of the month from 12:00 to 12:30 p.m. (CT). Each month, a School for Workers faculty member will interview advocates of the labor/worker movement to highlight their important work, celebrate their progress, and learn from their unique experiences. This event is free, but pre-registration is required to receive the webinar link.
