Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at noon (CT) we are welcoming Phil Smith, United Mine Workers of America Chief of Staff
Join us for the next Labor Forward Forum featuring Phil Smith, United Mine Workers of America (UMWA) Chief of Staff, to discuss how UMWA is holding the line with the longest and largest ongoing strike in the United States. The forum is a free, online series held on the third Wednesday of the month from 12:00 to 12:30 p.m. Each month, a School for Workers faculty member will interview advocates of the labor/worker movement to highlight their important work, celebrate their progress, and learn from their unique experiences. This event is free, but pre-registration is required to receive the webinar link.
About UMWA Warrior Met Strike
Members of the United Mine Workers of America (UMWA) began a strike against Warrior Met Coal back on April 1, 2021. The Warrior Met strike epitomizes the imbalance of power between Wall Street and workers in the United States. Currently, these 900 miners are confronting the trillion-dollar assets of Wall Street funds that own the company with the longest and largest ongoing strike in the United States.
