Who: This institute is for members of AFT, Kenosha Education Association, Madison Teachers Inc., Milwaukee Teachers Education Association, Racine Educators United, SEIU, and WEAC.

This training program will prepare you with the knowledge and skills to engage with your colleagues and management about compensation and working conditions. Participants will leave equipped for formal collective bargaining, as well as for dialogues with management about employee handbooks and other matters excluded from the formal bargaining process. Participants will enjoy detailed educational presentations and engage in discussions and hands-on exercises, including a negotiations simulation. We will learn about:
- Preparation, planning, and research
- The limitations and opportunities of Wisconsin public sector labor law
- Writing proposal language and costing economics
- Bargaining table conduct and tactics
- Maximizing member involvement and communications

What are the registration types and tuition cost?
Single room lodger – $1,200
The registration fee includes tuition, materials, three nights of lodging, breakfasts, lunches, and refreshment breaks. Note that dinners are not included.
Double room lodger – $1,033
The registration fee includes tuition, materials, three nights of lodging, breakfasts, lunches, and refreshment breaks. Note that dinners are not included and we do not assign roommates.
Commuter – $806
Registration includes tuition, materials, breakfast, lunches, and refreshment breaks. Note that parking is not included.
What are the hotel accommodations?
If you are in need of a hotel room, please select either the single room or double room registration type. School for Workers will reserve a room under your name. Hotel check-in starts at 3:00 p.m. and check out is by 12:00 p.m. School for Workers does not arrange hotel roommates.
Where do I park?
The hotel will provide you with a parking voucher and directions when you check-in. When you arrive, park in the 15 minute loading zone so you can receive the voucher prior to parking in a lot.
When should I arrive?
Hotel check-in starts Sunday, June 23 at 3:00 p.m.
Class check-in opens Monday, June 24 at 8:00 a.m.
What meals are provided?
As part of your class registration, students receive a continental breakfast Mon-Wed, and lunch and an afternoon snack Mon-Tue.
